We didn’t get a chance last summer to check out the pool in our neighborhood - what a mistake! It is Awesome! We went for the first time on Sunday and like a dork I forgot my camera. But, we went back on Tuesday and I made sure to get some good pictures. Hope you enjoy!!!!

A few of Emma. She hasn’t liked going swimming before (once at a friends and once at the gym) But, she LOVED it this time!

I didn’t get many pics of Kaitie and Mandy, they were off doing their own thing in the big pool.

My Daddy (kind of hunky for an old man, don’t you think?)

And here is Jake. He loves the pool as you can probably see! He was so hard to get a picture of, but - I think I did ok!

Hands off Ladies! He’s only 4 and he wants to marry me :)

I first started this blog as a way to vent for political reasons. I have a tendency to get a little crazy when I am passionate about something. I grab that “soap box” and start the yelling. Marc suggested a blog so I could yell to the world…

like anyone wants to hear a crazy redhead yell about politics :)

Anyway, I have mostly stayed away from talking politics here, mainly because talking about kids is so much more fun!!!!

However, today, for just this one post, I am dragging out the soap box.

Justice Kennedy: Thank you for kindly removing your head out of your rear-end long enough to uphold our Constitutional right to bear arms. I thank you, and my guns thank you.

Justices Ginsburg, Stevens, Souter: Alas, I do believe there is no hope. Your head is so firmly planted up your rear, I fear you may never see the light of day again. Which is actually, totally fine by me.

Ok - all done. The soap box is being stowed away for another day.

Swimming pictures later today!!!!!

Sorry - I guess the link isn’t working. These don’t look great because it is a little challenging to take a picture of a picture and well.. I am running out of time this morning. So, no complaining! Be happy that I got them up :)
Oh, if you want to see all of the pictures, including the ones that we didn’t get, drop me an email and I will send the “invite” so you can log into the site.

hmm, I may have to go back and retake these this afternoon. They don’t look very good at all and I see that I have a big spot on my lens. Well, at least the subject is as cute as can be!!! I hope you enjoy!

Yeah, we are a little late taking these, but considering we never got 6 or 9 month pictures for Jake - better late than never!

(btw - we are now taking donations for Jake’s therapy :) )

I really wanted to share… and who gets tired of looking at a cute baby? Not me!

Instead of trying to get them scanned in and all that stuff that just takes too much time (it’s almost 11pm here!) I am just going to post the link and I hope you enjoy!!!

Emma’s Pictures

Please let me know if you can’t get in!

I am ashamed about my lack of blogging. But, gosh darn! I have been so busy!!! Seriously! BUSY!

Kaitie and Mandy’s gymnastics schedule has their class smack dab in the middle of the day. We are trying to finish up 3 different school books before our Disney trip, so we are hitting school kind of hard still and Emma is getting very active! Busy, busy, busy.

Father’s Day was very nice here. We woke Daddy up with breakfast in bed. Eggs, bacon, blueberry waffles, iced coffee, orange juice and the Sunday paper. We all had a great time making it and Daddy had a good time enjoying it :)

After breakfast, we all packed up and headed out for church. After church we came home and Marc and I spent the afternoon watching some movies and TV. For dinner we had Strip Steak, garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. For dessert I whipped up some Chocolate Lava Cakes - oh my! They were YUMMY!

We usually get Marc a picture of the kids and I for Father’s Day, but I just haven’t had a chance to get it done. Hopefully this week :)

Yesterday was Marc’s birthday! Thank goodness! He is now as old as I am! Those 47 days between my birthday and his are horrible! LOL!!! He always reminds me how much older I am! Thankfully, it only lasts 47 days!

Sadly, we didn’t do anything that special yesterday. That busy thing again. The girls has gymnastics. Emma had to get her immunizations and Jake had a doctors appointment on the other side of town. But… we did get a chance to go out for a fabulous meal! We went to a great restaurant called Taste of Texas. We had heard so many great things about it and had tried going before but the wait was like over 2 hours. YIKES! Thankfully we got their early and beat the dinner crowd. We walked right in, but about 30 minutes later the place was packed! It was delish! Big time!!! I can’t wait to go back sometime.

When we got home we had dessert and gave Marc his present. A GPS that he has been asking for for a year! He was very happy!

We made some Red Velvet Cake that is good, but not quite as chocolate-y, as Marc would have liked it. I was a little disappointed, but it was the first time I’ve made one from scratch. I’ll have to give it another whirl! I hate it when I bake something and it doesn’t turn out, I get a little obsessed!

I have some housework calling my name! My Dad is coming down tomorrow for a week! I can’t wait!! We are all so very excited! I just love my Daddy and can’t wait to spend some time with him.

Jake asks me, “Do bats eat ladybugs?”Yep, I think so” I reply.”NO! I don’t want them to eat the ladybugs. Ladybugs crawl on people and tickle them. I want ladybugs to crawl on me and tickle me. The bats can’t eat the ladybugs”I started giggling a bit thinking how funny it was that my “destroy everything” “snips and snails and puppy dog tails” little boy was talking about ladybugs and how much he loved them… but then I overheard him planning on how we can kill all the bats… I think it involved some kind of explosion. :)

We had such a great time at the home school convention, I have a ton of things to talk about. But, I first want to talk to you about a very special meeting that took place Saturday afternoon.

Two years ago at the convention I was introduced to a wonderful product from a good friend of mine. It is a series of CD’s put out by Greathall Productions, that are narrated by a man named Jim Weiss. The girls got a few from the convention last year and a bunch more for Christmas. They have fairy tales from around the world and some classic stuff like Sherlock Holmes, 20,000 Leagues and Tom Sawyer. They absolutely love them!

Friday, Marc and I were walking along with the girls when we saw the booth and noticed that he was going to be storytelling later on in the day. We asked the girls if they wanted to go and of course they jumped at the chance! We swung back around the booth to see what room it was in and I spied Jim Weiss. I pointed him out to the girls who immediately got all giggly and well… weird. It was really funny to see! Marc and I were almost stunned, we had never seen act that way before. Sadly, we found out that the storytelling was only for the kids that were in the kids program. So, we didn’t get to hear him.

Saturday, as the girls and I were walking past his booth again (oh yes, lots of shopping was done!) I saw him there and told the girls… blushing and giggling ensued. I encouraged them to go and talk to him. They bravely went over to the booth and quickly looked down at the piles of CD’s, too shy to speak. Yep - my girls were speechless… first time for everything! I was standing behind them as Mr Weiss walked by and started up a conversation with me. I told him what huge fans my girls were and he started talking to them. It was so cute! Their eyes were as big as saucers and their smiles were just priceless!

He ended up having a very nice conversation with them and even gave them a CD, autographed, of course!

Kaitie and Mandy showed all their friends they saw that day their autographed Jim Weiss CD.

I am so thankful that my almost 10 year olds got giddy over a storyteller. Yep - a plain old storyteller. Not Paris, or Lindsey or even Hannah… but, Jim Weiss.

Things are starting to get a little saner around here. Marc is back from Canada. All the activities have wound down. The homeschool conference was this past weekend and decisions regarding the next school year are set. WHEW!!! What a crazy time it has been :)

Hopefully I will be able to get back to posting on a semi-regular basis. I have lots of “stuff” to talk about and oodles of great pictures!

But - until then, someone funny things said in the last two days.

Jake (as we were driving home from the conference Friday): “Daddy, when we get home, can we play “Duck, Duck, Goose, Alligator?”

Jake : “Daddy, will you build blocks with me?’” “Sure” says Marc, “What do you want to build?” Jake: “London”

Ok, the next one requires a little set up. We are eating out Friday night and the girls were discussing inventors. They ask us who invented the television. Marc and I rack our brains and can’t come up with anything. I say “Hmm, I don’t know, but I know who invented the radio” (I’m thinking Wow! Great segue into a teachable moment” Katie says “umm, duh! Marconi!” Oh. Sorry. Do they even need me? LOL!
